Awesome Food Is A Must.
No party is complete without great food. The important thing with a New Year’s Eve party menu is to include something for everyone. What’s the best way to do that? Easy, include lots of variety. Don’t worry about serving heavy dishes. Nobody wants to be eating lasagna at eleven o’clock at night. Create a menu of fun hor d’oeuvres. Of course, since you are at the beach you have to include some delicious local sea food. Check out our links below for previous blogs featuring great seafood inspired recipes.Don’t forget the kids. For the kids you can keep it simple, cookies, sweet treats, maybe small sandwiches. Keep the kid’s selection simple. That way your menu will appeal to the broadest range of tastes.
Create A Time Capsule
Time capsules are a fun way to bring the family together and enjoy creating something unique. To create the time capsule, have everyone place pictures, notes, and anything special from the year into an airtight and moisture-safe jar. Wrapping things in a ziplock freezer bag first is a good idea. Make sure to mark the jar with the date. When you get home from your Ocean Isle Beach vacation bury the jar in your backyard. Put a rock over the spot and agree on a time when you’ll come back and check your time capsule.
Have A Confetti Balloon Countdown
Kids and adults alike will love this. We do admit you will have to do a little vacuuming, but hey, look on the bright side, you don’t have to do it until next year. Assuming those little ones might not make it to midnight, a confetti balloon countdown is a great way to celebrate the new year without keeping them up too late! Making confetti is easy, use a large hole punch to make confetti out of tissue paper or gift wrap. Have everyone write New Year’s resolutions on small pieces of paper to include. Use a plastic bottle with the bottom half cut off as a “funnel” to slip all the confetti paper into the deflated balloons. Blow up the balloons (one for each hour) and hang them from the ceiling or wall. All you need to do now is pop a balloon for each hour until midnight.
Play Some Games
Having a few fun games to play is a great way to include everyone in the celebration. If you have a family gathering with kids and adults it is important the games are easy to play and simple. Here are just a few that are easy to play and don’t require much in the way of preparation.
Guess that resolution: Everyone places their resolutions in a hat and one person draws them out one at a time to read them. If you have little ones an adult can give an easy explanation of what a resolution is. Then everyone has to guess who the resolutions belong to!
Guess the lie: In this game, everyone will write down one or two resolutions and one lie. They will read them aloud once the game starts and everyone has to guess which one’s the lie!
Be Responsible
New Year’s Eve is a wonderful time of year, but it is also a time when you need to be responsible. With the advent of Uber, Lyft, and other ride-sharing resources there is no excuse to drink and drive.
