Yes. Ocean Isle Beach uses a paid parking system in designated parking spaces throughout the island. Parking is only allowed in clearly marked spaces with curb stops or bumpers. Parking outside of these spaces—including along rights‑of‑way—is not permitted and may result in a citation.
That said, there are a few exceptions where parking is free. This includes Ferry Landing Park, with free parking and no time limit, and Town Center Park, with limited free parking for park use only up to 2 hours.
When Is Paid Parking in Effect?
Paid parking in Ocean Isle Beach is in effect seasonally:
- Paid Parking Dates – April 1 through October 31
- Paid Parking Hours – Daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Outside of those hours, parking may be free in designated spaces from 6:00AM to 9:00AM and 5:00PM to midnight. However, the town enforces a strict no‑parking rule, in public parking spaces, from midnight to 6:00 AM.
Where Is Paid Parking Required?
Paid parking is required throughout the island, but only in designated, marked parking spaces. These spaces are typically located near beach accesses, commercial areas, and popular gathering spots.
If a space is not clearly marked or designated for parking, it should be assumed that parking is prohibited. Please do not park in these areas. It would be a bummer to get a parking ticket while on vacation.
How Much Does Parking Cost in Ocean Isle Beach?
The Ocean Isle Beach, NC, parking program offers several pricing options to accommodate short visits and extended stays. Here is what you can expect:
- $5 per hour (up to 3 hours)
- $20 per day for stays longer than 3 hours
- $80 per week (7 consecutive days)
- $175 per season (per vehicle, per calendar year)

Yes. You can download the SurfCast by Otto app via Google Play and the App Store, depending on the kind of phone you have.
Tip: We recommend downloading the app and setting up an account before your vacation. This will save you time and energy if you decide to use paid parking during your visit. There is nothing worse than trying to figure out parking technology when it is hot, and the kids are in the car.
Do You Need to Display a Parking Pass?
No. Ocean Isle Beach uses your license plate to verify paid parking, so there is no physical permit to display in your car. As long as your vehicle’s information and payment are properly registered in the system, you are considered legally parked.
Is Handicapped Parking Free?
Yes—with limitations. Handicapped parking is free, but only when parked in officially designated handicapped spaces. If a vehicle with a handicapped placard or plate is parked in a standard paid space, the regular parking rates still apply.
What About Event and Concert Parking?
During town‑sponsored events, festivals, or summer concert nights, parking rules may be adjusted. For example, free parking is available for the Summer Concert Series at Town Center Park (11 E. Second St) and 5 W. Third Street after 5:00 PM. Parking is also available at the Museum of Coastal Carolina for $5 on concert days.
