Two Fun and Spooky Adventures
Looking for a little fright with the family this Halloween? Look no further than these two great adventures. One is on land and one is on water so there is something for everyone. A favorite is the Grissetown Haunted Trail which is really incredible, especially beacause it is all volunteer organized. Be sure to get there early as people come from all over the region for this adventure. For those looking for a spooky adventure on the water, you’ll want to head over to Shallotte to take a haunted swamp tour. People rave about this event and we’re sure any fan of Halloween will love this unique tour of the Shallotte river and swamp.
Grissettown Haunted Trail
If you like to be scared to death, but in a fun way, while supporting a great charity, then we have the perfect event for you. The annual Grissettown Haunted Trail takes place this October each Friday and Saturday night. On Wednesday, October, 31, there is a special Halloween event. All proceeds from the event support the Grissettown Longwood Fire Department. The trail takes about 30 minutes to complete and while it is family friendly, this is not a great event for the little ones.

Haunted Swamp Tour
The Shallotte River Swamp Park presents its 1st annual “Haunted Swamp Tour.” This inaugural year will feature tours through the historic and haunted Shallotte River Swamp aboard a boat, in the pitch-black darkness. The swamp is full of creatures with no legs and creatures with many legs. There are stories of bootleggers, swamp bandits, and a Swamp Thing that will add to the uncertainty of your return. Join us for this unique, exhilarating, and horrifying swamp adventure.This is a 30-40 minute boat tour. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to determine if their child is up to the experience.
