The Best Fall Events You Won't Want to Miss

Fall is here bringing with it beautiful coastal Carolina weather. We don’t like to brag, but there isn’t any place better to enjoy a fall vacation than Ocean Isle Beach. We may be beach experts, but fall lets us show you there is so much more to Ocean Isle Beach and this diverse region of North Carolina. With so many great things to do and see this fall, it is time to plan that late vacation and head over to Ocean Isle Beach. Here are just of the few family-friendly activities awaiting you.

Haunted Trail Schedule

Haunted Trail

Each year on Ocean Isle Beach the dedicated firefighters at the GrissettownLongwood Fire Rescue don a different kind of uniform and take to the woods to create a truly exhilarating and fun Haloween experience. Each Weekend in October the fire dept creates the Haunted Trail. All the actors on this self-guidedtour are volunteers or firefighters. As the website says this isn’t for the real little ones, but definitely fun for those 10 and older. Be prepared to be scared and thrilled for about 30 minutes. A great thing about this event is not only is it fun, but all proceeds from the event go to help the Fire Dept. Events like this are critical to the annual budget of these departments and the dedicated firemen and women who work there. So come on out enjoy a cool night and a little haunting fun.

Taking place on October 28 between 11-5:30 pm the event features all things Bavarian, with a dash of beach style added for good measure. Some of the eventstaking place include wiener dog races, Arm wrestling contests, and Bierstein Holding Contest. They had me at Weiner dog races, how cute is that. Admission is free for everyone. Hay Ride

Go Chicken Coop

If you’re looking for a great family-outing with all those traditional fall activities then the Go Chicken Coop farm is the place to be this October and November. Located about 35 minutes Northeast of the Ocean Isle Beach, Go Chicken Coop farm is an easy drive and well worth it. Featuring a huge Corn Maze, hayrides, farm train, and a pumpkin patch you’re sure to leave with a camera full of memories. One of the great missions of the farm is to “steer kids away from their devices”, and with all the fun activities and games we are sure you’ll agree they have succeeded. The farm is open Saturday 10-5 and on Sunday from 12-5. Note: Hayrides stop an hour before closing so make sure to get there in plenty of time to take advantage of that there is to do.

Haunted Swamp Tours

You didn’t think we wouldn’t combine Halloween with boating, did you? Perhaps one of the more unique and fun activities is the Haunted Swamp Tours. These tours take riders out on the Shallotte River for a night of good-naturedterror on the local water. Tours last about 30-40 to minutes. The tours will be happeningevery weekend in October so you have plenty of time to RSVP. These are all in the pitch black so as the website notes, this is not something to do if you are truly afraid of the dark. Come hear the tales of local bootleggers, smugglers, pirates, and look out for gators as you troll the Shallotte River with heart pumping excitment behind every cypress stump. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $20.00 per person.
