With summer on the horizon, Ocean Isle Beach is back open and ready for visitors. Many people who’ve been at home since March are hoping to hit the beach and get away for their traditional family beach vacation. Other people are looking for that family-friendly beach destination they’ve never been to before. If huge crowds and lots of traffic doesn’t appeal to you, than we have the perfect summer vacation destination, Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Our charming seaside community is just the place to get away from it all, relax and recharge. However, as we all know life is a bit different today and with coronavirus on everyone’s minds we have a few tips from experts for staying safe and healthy during your summer beach vacation.
Wear a mask
The CDC has advised people to wear masks. This is particularly important in public places like grocery stores and other retail establishments. Remember the mask doesn’t just help protect you it also helps reduce the overall spread of the coronavirus. As they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Get some rest and relaxation
A little rest and relaxation can help you in many different ways. One of those ways is by helping your immune system. Adequate sleep, healthy eating, regular exercise and stress management all can go a long way in keeping your immune system strong even before you start your journey. Once you arrive on Ocean Isle Beach, take this time to kick back and relax. We all have enough stress in our daily lives, you don’t need any during your vacation.
Clean surfaces
Cleaning frequently touched surfaces is an important method of reducing transmission of the coronavirus and protecting yourself. A simple container of clorox wipes is perfect for this task. Whether it is counter tops in your vacation home or the steering wheel in your car, using a disinfecting wipe on surfaces is quick and easy.
Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer
You’ve heard it over and over because this is one of the top ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Wash your hands frequently, including after touching surfaces. Use soap and water for 20 seconds. If soap is not available, then use a good quality hand sanitizer.
Pay with credit cards
Avoid paying with cash. Let’s face it, cash is dirty stuff. Paying for purchases with a credit or debit card is far cleaner. Buying gas? Pay for gas with cards, not cash. This eliminates the face-to-face interaction necessary for a cash transaction, and cards — but not cash — can always be cleaned with a disinfectant wipe after use.
Practice social distancing
The CDC recommends, as do local and state officials, to put distance between yourself and other people outside of your home. Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus. For most of us we go to the beach to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We want to spend time with our families, relax, enjoy good food, and of course, the beach! So social distancing is actually what we are all here for. Remember to stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms length) from other people. Don’t gather in groups and stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings.
Take advantage of your washer and dryer
Most of our vacation homes come equipped with a washer and a dryer. This is just one more way you can help keep your family safe. Washing sheets and linens regularly in hot water is just another line of defense. You can’t do that at a hotel!
