Great Winter Events That Will Make You Love Ocean Isle Beach

If you live in the Northern hemisphere, January, February…and even March…are notorious for being cold and dreary months. But in the event you are fortunate enough to visit the eastern shores of North Carolina, you will find a gem of a town called Ocean Isle Beach. And while Ocean Isle Beach sees her fair share of cold weather, most of her winter days are mild and blue-skied. With winter days that often reach into the 60’s and 70’s….this beachside town makes for the perfect winter getaway destination.

Getting nice and cozy in one of Ocean Isle Beach’s premier beach vacation rentals, from Williamson Realty Vacations, is both relaxing and good for the soul. But when it’s time to stretch your legs and find something to do, there are plenty of events and activities to choose from. From January through March, here is a sampling of some of the best events in Brunswick County.

Are you planning a beach wedding? Then you don’t want to miss The Silver Coast Bridal Show. You will discover the best that Brunswick County has to offer for brides-to-be. You will get information on caters, photographers, officiants, cakes, music, venues, limo services, events planners, florists, event rentals and more.

Listen Up Brunswick County, Bolivia

Listen Up Brunswick County is a non-profit group, dedicated to providing noteworthy live musical experiences. Their venue, the Virginia Williamson Events Center at Odell Williamson Theater on the campus of Brunswick Community College, offers an intimate setting. Season Four kicks off on January 21st with a performance by Joe Crookston. Doors open at 7pm for all events, and the show start at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 each. Fun Runs, 5K’s, and MoreFun Runs

If ready to beat the winter blues by stretching your legs, then here are three difference races to choose from. From a 1-mile Fun Run to a 50K adventure run…there is something for everyone!

Ingram Planetarium, Sunset Beach

Ingram Planetarium is offering a variety of shows, in their Sky Theater, that focus on the cosmos. Entrance to the planetarium is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $7.50 for children (3-12), and 2 and under are FREE. Here is a line up of their shows in January, February, and into March. You will want to check the Ingram Planetarium calendar for days and time.
The Sky Tonight-LIVE: Get a live look at the sky. Explore planets, constellations, and other celestials events visible in the Carolina night sky.

Undiscovered Worlds: This beautifully crafted show will take audiences to distant stars and fly up close to exotic planets. Experience the science that allows us to detect these exoplanets and the discoveries that are shifting our perspectives on humanity’s place in the cosmos.
Earth, Moon, & Sun: Explore the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun with the help of a coyote with a razor sharp wit. This show is fast-paced and fun!!

Two Small Pieces of Glass: 400 years ago, a simple adjustment to a child’s spyglass revealed for the first time an infinite and perplexing universe to our eyes and imagination. Join Ingram Planetarium, as the world’s great telescopes gaze ever further into the distant past and into the future.

Museum of Coastal Carolina, Ocean Isle BeachTouch Tank Feeding

In addition to being an awesome place to visit, the Museum of Coastal Carolina also offers a handful of programs throughout the week. One of their regularly scheduled events is the Touch Tank Feeding Program. There are also winter programs scheduled that include Our State Shell, Our State Reptile, Gators Alive, Wild Boar Invasion, Dolphins, Manatees and much more. You will want to be sure to check their calendar of events for an up to date list of events, dates and times. Admission price is$9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $7.50 for children (3-12), and 2 and under are FREE.

Touch Tank Feeding Program
Every Friday, 11am

Help feed and interact with live sea animals in this hands-on touch tank. Experienced and knowledgable staff will help you learn about the habitats and habits of the sea star, sea urchins, hermit crabs, horseshoe crab, whelks and more. There are also 3 aquarium displays filled with a variety of interesting fish for viewing and feeding observation.

February 24th

Support the Community Movement Alliance and their mission to bring yoga, dance, and martial arts to Brunswick County Public Schools. Wine and unwind with an hour of Vinyasa and a glass of great wine from Silver Coast Winery.
