Fall is the Perfect Time for a Winery Tour

When you think of the beach you likely don’t think about vineyards, but here on Ocean Isle Beach we have a great little secret. Just around the corner from your Ocean Isle Beach vacation home, you will find the good folks at the Silver Coast Winery creating incredible local wines. This fall is a great time to grab a bottle of wine, sit on the beach and watch the sunsets. If you’ve never visited a winery, this is the blog for you. Come along as we explore the Silver Coast Winery.

Fall, Wine, and Ocean Isle Beach: The Perfect Combination

What’s better than a day on the beach with your friends and loved ones? One that, of course, ends with a cool evening watching the sunset over Ocean Isle Beach with a great glass of wine. For serious and novice wine lovers alike, fall is a special time of year. Here is what the experts recommend.

Things to consider: Wine is an all-seasons beverage, but if you’re eating seasonally, it makes sense to be drinking seasonally, too. In the summer, folks tend to drink more whites and rosés. Colder weather calls for more robust reds. It all depends on your specific tastes!

Try reds, such as Syrah and Grenache-based wines. Pinot Noirs are considered by many connoisseurs to be autumnal. Beaujolais are light-medium bodied wines that have a range of spicy flavors which pair well with autumn food. For those of you who love seafood but prefer red wine, you don’t have to sacrifice and follow the old rule of seafood being paired with a white wine. Instead, try a nice Pinot Noir or a Syrah, both of which are softer and pair well with seafood.

If you are a fan of white wines, you’ll love Viognier, Roussanne or Chardonnay, all of which are delicious and traditionally paired with seafood. Of course, no Ocean Isle Beach vacation is complete without some fresh local seafood.

Grapes on Ocean Isle Beach?

Because of a disease that affects grapes, there are only two types of grapes that grow locally. Muscadine and Scuppernong grow well in the local area, but the local wineries source grapes from the mountains of Northern Georgia and Virginia. Looking to learn more?
