The NC Oyster Festival
A long-standing October tradition, the annual NC Oyster Festival brings together toe-tapping music, culinary delights, unique shopping, and the regionally celebrated oyster. Thousands of tourists and locals visit nearby Shallotte, NC, for this fantastic event.
With two full days of oyster goodness, you’ll have plenty of time to walk the grounds and peruse the variety of vendors showcasing their artwork and crafts, enjoy the live bands and entertainers (don’t forget to bring your beach chair!), and enjoy the competitions as a spectator or go for the gold in one of the various oyster contests.
Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a festival without plenty of delicious food! Along with oysters, the NC Oyster Festival offers a variety of cuisines showcased in an assortment of mouth-watering ways.
NC Festival by the Sea
A few miles down the road in Holden Beach, you’ll find the annual NC Festival by the Sea. Taking place each October, you don’t want to miss this lively beach celebration! One of the best things about the NC Festival by the Sea is that it’s free to attend, parking included, making it a great fall event to attend during your Ocean Isle Beach vacation. Relax and enjoy over 100 arts and crafts vendors, loads of activities for the kids, food vendors, and more.
Calabash Oktoberfest
Break out the lederhosen, turn up the polka music, and get ready to party Bavarian-style during the annual Calabash Oktoberfest! Each October, the nearby town of Calabash is transformed into a fun-filled German Oktoberfest, complete with laughter and good times. The event features all things Bavaria with a dash of beach style added in for good measure.
Events include wiener dog races, arm wrestling contests, and a Bier Stein holding contest. Admission is free for everyone, making this another great fall event to enjoy while on vacation! Be sure to check out the many vendors selling food, arts, crafts, and more.
Ocean Isle Beach Super Saturday
Celebrated annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Ocean Isle Beach kicks off the Christmas season in style with several cheerful, family-friendly events. Here on OIB, it’s lovingly called “Super Saturday!”
Bring in the Christmas spirit with a beautiful Christmas Parade, followed by the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, and then go down to the waterfront to enjoy the dazzling Christmas Boat Flotilla (it’s like a parade, but at night and on the water!). This magical day ends with a night of great food, live music, and fun at Sharky’s. Meet Santa, savor delicious cookies and hot cocoa, and enjoy the many activities throughout the day. Your family will surely want to make this fall event a yearly tradition!
