All of the events are family-friendly and most are even free! So grab a sweatshirt, charge up the camera, and get ready for another awesome season of fall and holiday fun on Ocean Isle Beach. Here are some of the best events you won’t want to miss this year.
Calabash Oktoberfest
Break out the lederhosen, turn up the polka music and get ready to party Bavarian style during the annual Calabash Oktoberfest. Taking place in nearby Calabash, North Carolina, which is only a 20-minute drive west, of Ocean Isle Beach. This event is sure to bring out the laughs and good times. Taking place on October 27 between 11:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. the event features all things Bavarian, with a dash of beach style added for good measure. Events include wiener dog races, arm wrestling contests, and Bierstein Holding Contest. Admission is free for everyone. Vendors will be available selling food, arts, and crafts. Live music will be provided by the Harbour Towne Fest Band.
Run Ocean Isle Beach
If you love the beach and love running, then the Run Ocean Isle Beach is your type of event. October is about the most beautiful time of the year temperature wise to run. This event is a great way to stay in shape and keep those calories off as we head into the holiday season. The event takes place on October 27. You can choose a 1 mile, 5k, or half marathon. So come run with us this October and enjoy a day on beautiful Ocean Isle Beach.

NC Festival By The Sea
A few miles down the road in Holden Beach, you’ll find the 2018 NC Festival By The Sea. Taking place this year on October 27-28 the festival celebrates 38 years. One of the best parts of this event is that it is free to everyone and there is free parking. If you are looking for a festival that features over 100 arts and crafts vendors, and loads of activities for the kids, then this is the place to be. Saturday events take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Holiday Events You Don’t Want To Miss
Super Saturday
Each year on Saturday following Thanksgiving, Ocean Isle Beach kicks off the Christmas season in style with several fun family-friendly events. Here on Ocean Isle Beach, we call it “Super Saturday.” It starts with the Christmas Parade on Saturday, followed by the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and then the Christmas Boat Flotilla. The day ends with a night of great food, live music, and fun at Sharky’s. Here are a few details on each event.
Event Schedule1:30 p.m. Line-up for the parade at Museum parking lot
2:00 p.m. Parade Starts
4:30 p.m. Christmas caroling and Tree lighting at Causeway across the street from the Fire Department.
5:00 p.m. Santa arrives at the Fire Department followed by hot cocoa, coffee, and other goodies
5:30 p.m. Watch the Christmas Flotilla from Sharky’s Waterfront Restaurant. Followed by Flotilla Party!
Christmas Parade, Santa & Tree Lighting
Everyone loves a parade and here onOIBwe have a great family-friendly Christmas parade. Come out and see firetrucks, local organizations, and perhaps everyone’s favorite, the locals who decorate their golf carts in festive holiday-themed decorations. After all, who doesn’t love a golf cart float!
After the parade head over to the Fire Department to see the lighting of the Christmas tree followed shortly by the arrival of Santa Claus. Stay for a bit to visit with friends while enjoying cookies and hot chocolate. But don’t forget one of the best events of the day is still to come!
Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla

The15th Annual Ocean Isle Beach Flotillaboat parade kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 11:00 p.m. The fun parade of boats begins in front of Inlet View Bar and Grill and then heads down the Intracoastal Waterway. The flotilla ends in front of Sharky’s Restaurant on Ocean Isle Beach. This is a holiday flotilla so you’ll love seeing all the holiday-themed decorations. People really get into this fun Ocean Isle Beach tradition. Hang around at Sharky’s afterward for great live music, food, and fun. Remember, to buy a t-shirt. All the proceeds go to support the Brunswick County Family Assistance Program.
